Magnitude-5.0 quake hits Solomon Islands

An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale hit Solomon Islands at 13:01 GMT on Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 69.3 km, was initially determined to be at 8.95 degrees south latitude and 160.745 degrees east longitude, 20 km south southwest of Auki, Malaita, Solomon Islands.
