6 magnitude earthquake strikes off Vanuatu

An earthquake measuring 6 on the Richter scale struck off the Pacific island country of Vanuatu on Wednesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The quake, which occurred at 02:35 p.m. Vanuatu local time ( 0335 GMT), was centered 75 km northwest of Port-Vila, capital city of Vanuatu, and at a depth of 41 km.

There were no reports of casualties or damages.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has not issued a regional tsunami warning.

A strong earthquake measuring 7.5 on the Richter scale struck off Vanuatu on Tuesday afternoon, followed by a series of aftershocks. The quakes caused no casualties or significant damage.
