At least twenty-two people were killed when a truck fell into a gorge of northwestern India on Wednesday evening, local media reported.

The tragedy occurred as the truck they were traveling in was out of control in Mandi district of northwestern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, the Indo-Asian News Service quoted local police as saying.

Twenty-two people died on the spot. However, the total number of people in the truck is yet to be ascertained as rescue teams have not reached the spot, said local police.

The accident was probably caused by the low visibility, and the detailed investigation of the fatal accident would be conducted, said local police.
