A meeting on border tourism development, border economic zone construction and border management was jointly held by China and Vietnam on Friday.

The meeting drew Chairman of China's southwestern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Ma Biao, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan and officials from four Vietnamese provinces sharing border with China including Cao Bang, Lang Son, Quang Ninh and Ha Giang.

At the meeting, Ma said China and Vietnam have finished the land border demarcation and mapped out a clear borderline. The border provinces of the two countries are embracing a new opportunity for development.

Ma said border provinces of the two countries could strengthen cooperation on opening up border gates, promoting cross-border tourism, building cross-border economic zone and infrastructure development.

The Vietnamese deputy prime minister said China has become Vietnam's largest cooperation partner in many sectors like economy and trade, and tourism.

Nhan said China's Guangxi shares border with Vietnam and has formed close economic and trade links with Vietnam. Vietnam expects to expand cooperation in education, tourism and technology with Guangxi, said Nhan.

Vietnam would like to further discuss with Guangxi about the establishment of a cross-border economic zone and the facilitation of goods and personnel exchange.
