German Foreign Minister and Deputy Chancellor Guido Westerwelle married his long time gay partner Friday at a secret registry office wedding in his home town Bonn, local media reported.

Westerwelle, 48, finally entered the wedlock with his gay lover Michael Mronz, 43, on Friday. According to media reports, the wedding ceremony was presided over by Bonn's Mayor Juergen Nymptsch.

The ceremony was attended only by closest family members and friends of the couple.

Neither Chancellor Angela Merkel nor any of Westerwelle's colleagues were present when they got married.
