Afghan and NATO-led troops killed over 30 Taliban militants during operations in Afghanistan's eastern Laghman province Friday, the military alliance said in a press release Saturday.

"A combined force of Afghan National Army, Afghan National Police and coalition soldiers conducted an air assault into eastern Afghanistan Friday, to clear insurgents activity in the area," the NATO-led ISAF (International Security Assistance Force) said in the press release.

It said the joint forces while conducting their security and clearing patrols in Alisheng district of Laghman province received small arms fire and engaged several insurgents in the area.

"More than 30 enemy fighters had been killed in the engagement, " it said.

Initial reports indicate that there were no injuries or damages to any civilians in the area, it emphasized.

Taliban militants who vowed to intensify their assault against Afghan and NATO-led forces have yet to make comments.
