Hurricane Matthew damages SE. Mexico

The hurricane Matthew caused damages in some 12 municipalities of Chiapas state in the southeast of Mexico, due to heavy rains, the Civil Protection Institute said Sunday.
Civil Protection Institute General Director for Disasters Risk Integral Management Luis Manuel Garcia Moreno said that the most affected municipalities were the ones located in the jungle, mountain areas and the places bordering with Guatemala.
The most affected area was Yajalon. About 30 percent of its territory was affected as Shula River overflowed, damaging at least 245 houses, 32 stores and some 40 vehicles.
Matthew, which now is a tropical depression reached Chiapas, will dissipate in coming hours. according to the National Meteorology Service (SMN).
However, the red alert is still kept for that area as the rains could continue for al least 48 hours more.
Garcia said that rains also affected the infrastructure highway of Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas' capital, as well as in the municipalities of Salto del Agua, Comitan de Dominguez, San Cristobal de las Casas, Oaxchuc, Tumbala, Tila and Chilon.
