Germany has no concrete indications of imminent attacks from terrorists and see no reason to change its threat level at this moment, an Interior Ministry spokesman said Monday after the United States issued a travel alert for Europe.

German authorities have been aware of the U.S. government's travel alert and are cooperating closely with its international allies on security affairs, but there are "still no concrete indications of imminent attacks" on German targets, the ministry said in a statement.

The U.S. State Department issued a travel alert Sunday for America citizens in Europe as intelligence from the United States and some European countries indicated that a Mumbai-style attack might be imminent.

The spokesman said Germany would constantly review its current level of security, but at this specific time, authorities saw no concrete reason to modify its assessment of threats.

Some U.S. and British media last week quoted security officials as saying that al-Qaida militants were planning to launch terror attacks on major cities in Britain, France, Germany and the United States.

In November 2008, 10 well-armed militants struck two hotels and seized hostages in India's largest city Mumbai, killing 166 people and injuring more than 300. Foreigners from western countries were main targets.
