Egyptian security forces on Saturday injured a Sudanese migrant while he was attempting to sneak into Israel via the Rafah borders.

Tejani Adam, a 21-year-old Sudanese, was shot in the right leg and right arm and was sent to hospital on Saturday morning, a medical source told Xinhua.

Meanwhile, the Egyptian police arrested six other illegal migrants from Eritrea as they were trying to cross the borders to Israel, security sources told Xinhua.

According to initial investigations, the arrested confessed that they attempted to illegally migrate to Israel to find jobs and that they were helped by border smuggling gangs.

The Egyptian border has long been a transit for illegal African migrants to seek jobs in Tel Aviv. Egypt has increased patrols to stop illegal migrants at the border area in recent years.
