Germany has imposed a ban on all flights from Yemen, including cargo aircraft and passenger planes, after a parcel bomb was found to be mailed from that country, a Transport Ministry spokesman said Monday.

Spokesman Ingo Strater told reporters that German aviation authority decided to extend its flight ban to passenger planes from Yemen after suspending cargo flights and package deliveries from that country over the weekend.

"The German air authorities have orders to turn back all direct and indirect flights from Yemen, which means flights to or over German territory would be temperately suspended," he said.

Germany became the first country which stopped all flights from Yemen.

German authorities has tightened security after police found that one of the parcel bombs, which was disguised as an ink printer and sent by Yemen planes to the United States, was routed to London via the German western city Cologne.
