Chinese general meets Venezuelan vice president

Venezuelan Vice President Elias Jaua Milano met in Caracas Tuesday with visiting Chinese General Chen Bingde, chief of the general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), on bilateral relations.

Jaua welcomed Chen's visit, saying the Venezuelan side attached importance to developing relations with China.

In view of the current development, Venezuela is willing to further deepen bilateral cooperation with China in various fields and push forward relations between the two countries and the two militaries, said Jaua.

For his part, Chen said Venezuela is an important country in Latin America, adding the bilateral relations have witnessed rapid progress in recent years, with strengthening political mutual trust and steady development of economic and trade cooperation.

Along with the steady development of bilateral ties, relations between the two militaries also advanced smoothly, said Chen.

The Chinese side attaches importance to the relations of the two militaries and is willing to further pragmatic cooperation of the two militaries based on the principle of mutual benefit, said Chen.

Chen arrived here on Sunday for a three-day visit to Venezuela.
