Senior CPC official meets Henry Kissinger

A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) met in New York on Wednesday with former U. S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger to further develop bilateral relations.

Kissinger, who served as the top U.S. diplomat during the presidencies of Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford in 1970s, said that U.S. and China are experiencing an important stage to further develop bilateral ties. He hoped that both countries will enhance strategic dialogue and cooperate in addressing common challenges.
Wang and Kissinger also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.
During his U.S. tour, Wang Jiarui also met with Illinois Governor Pat Quinn in Chicago and Ohio Governor Ted Strickland, Ohio Governor-elect John Kasich in Columbus. They exchanged views on deepening the communication and cooperation at regional level as well as fostering mutual understanding. They reached consensus to consolidate the political, economic and public basis to build a positive, cooperative and comprehensive Sino-U.S. relationship for the 21st century and to bring benefits for people of both countries.
Wang also attended events on bilateral dialogue organized by Midwest U.S.-China Association in Chicago, The Chicago Council on Global Affairs, The Columbus Metropolitan Club, EastWest Institute in New York and delivered speeches on China-U.S. relations.
