At least two persons were killed and ten others were injured after a six-story building of a textile factory collapsed early Sunday in western Egypt amid heavy rain, official MENA news agency reported.

Rescuers are still recovering the bodies and searching for possible missing workers in the debris, the report said, noting some 50 workers were working inside the factory in al-Mahalla al- Kopra province when the incident took place.

A severe sandstorm continued to sweep most of Egypt on Sunday for a second day, causing some ports closed.

Strong winds and low visibility made it difficult to go through the Suez Canal, affecting the normal pass of more than 26 ships, local authorities said.

The windy weather also forced the diversion, delay or cancellation of some international and domestic flights.

Sandstorm hit Cairo on Sunday with the visibility of 500 meters, said Amira Ibrahim, an official from the Egyptian Meteorological Authority.

"The weather will improve in Cairo tomorrow," Ibrahim said, adding though sandstorms were usual in Cairo, this was one of the worst this year.
