Eleven people were killed and five others injured in a road crash between a minibus and a pickup truck in Egypt's Helwan governorate Monday.

According to Egypt's Ahram online website, the minibus driver was trying to dodge a car coming from the opposite direction, before it crashed with the pickup truck. The deaths include the driver of the minibus, three women and a 4-year-old boy.

The injured and the dead were taken to the nearby hospitals. Reports indicated that the accident took place due to the lack of clear barriers on the two-way road.
