Two NATO soldiers were killed in south Afghanistan on Saturday, a statement released by the alliance said.

"Two International Security Assistance Force service members died following separate improvised explosive device (IED) attacks in southern Afghanistan today,"the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) confirmed in the statement.

However, it did not reveal the nationalities of the victims, saying it is ISAF policy to defer casualty identification procedures to the relevant national authorities.

Troops mainly from U.S., Britain, Canada and Australia have been stationed in the southern region within the framework of ISAF to fight Taliban militants.

The Saturday's casualties brings to 36 the number of ISAF forces have been killed since beginning this year in Afghanistan.
