The Chinese government has decided to offer emergency humanitarian aid to Tunisia and Egypt, the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) said Friday.

The 50-million-yuan (7.6 million U.S. dollars) aid is aimed to alleviate the pressure of Tunisian and Egyptian governments brought by lingering refugees from their neighboring country Libya, the MOC said in a brief notice on its website.

Of the aid, 2 million U.S. dollars in cash is for Tunisia and 1 million U.S. dollars for Egypt, said the notice.

About 30.3 million yuan (4.6 million U.S. dollars) worth of materials, including food, tents, blankets, medicine and electric generators, will be sent to Tunisia.
