Pro-Ouattara forces take control of Cote d'Ivoire capital

Forces allied with Cote d'Ivoire's presidential claimant Alassane Ouattara have have taken control of the country's political capital Yamoussoukro, media reports said on Wednesday.

The reports cited military sources and resident witnesses as saying that the pro-Ouattara fighters have seized the city.

The pro-Ouattara forces who are mostly comprised of ex-rebels from the north, New Forces fighters, on Monday launched a grand offensive on the southern half of the country.

On the second day of their offensive, they managed to capture three strategic towns of Duekoue in the west, Daloa in central- west and Abengourou in the east.
