Wen meets with Malaysian PM

Visiting Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday with Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak to boost ties between the two countries, Xinhua reported.

This is Wen's second visit to Malaysia after six years. During the small-scale meeting, Wen congratulated Najib on Malaysia's great achievements in economic and social development.

Wen said Malaysia is a good friend of China, adding that the two countries, due to their joint efforts, have continuously boosted their traditional friendship, and achieved rich fruits in their cooperation in various fields.

China and Malaysia both are facing the major tasks of developing the economy and improving people's livelihood, Wen said.

He said that he wishes both sides continue deepening cooperation from a strategic and long-term perspective so as to create a better future for their bilateral relations.

Najib welcomed Wen's visit and said that he is confident Wen's trip will further deepen bilateral pragmatic cooperation and bring the two countries' strategic cooperation to a higher level.

They also exchanged views on issues of common concern.

Premier Wen will continue his Southeast Asia trip in Indonesia on April 29-30.
