Several NATO oil tankers bound for Afghanistan were set ablaze in two separate incidents late Friday night in northwest Pakistan, killing at least 15 people, local media reported.

Urdu TV channel Geo quoted local residents as saying that in the first incident the militants torched a NATO oil tanker in Khugakhel of Khyber tribal region.

According to eyewitnesses, in the second insident, a bomb planted in an oil tanker went off at the Torkham parking hub in the tribal area, engulfing several tankers in flames.

When locals gathered around the tanker to collect the leaked oil the tanker blew up again, killing 15 people.

Later, security forces cordoned off the area.

Pakistan is the main supply route for NATO-led forces battling Taliban militants in landlocked Afghanistan. Militants frequently attacked oil tankers and trucks bringing goods from Pakistani port of Karachi to Afghanistan.
