EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Catherine Ashton on Friday urged Kosovo leaders to engage in a constructive dialogue with Serbia.

Ashton spoke to reporters after meeting with Kosovo Prime minister Hashim Thaci in the southern town of Prizren.

Ashton urged Kosovo leaders to continue an ongoing dialogue which is facilitated by the European Union, with first concrete results anticipated in the next days.

"There might be an agreement only (if) there is an agreement between two sides involved in the dialogue," she said.

The EU envoy came to Kosovo after she visited Serbia on Thursday, hours after Serbian authorities arrested war crimes fugitive Ratko Mladic.

Ashton reiterated that the arrest of Mladic is an important moment for Serbia, but the road to EU integration requires further efforts from Serbia.
