A wild fire starting Sunday in southern France was finally put under control on Tuesday after destroying about 170 hectares of forest.

The fire in the east of Lozere province was under control Tuesday early morning, but some 200 firefighters working there remained on alert during the day in case the fire flares up again.

Local media said the fire started Sunday afternoon in the less populated province of Lozere in southeast France. Recent hot and dry weather increased the difficulties in extinguishing the fire, the cause of which is under investigation but human-related factor is said very likely to be the reason.

During the past days, a total of over 200 firefighters and 13 aircraft were mobilized in the operation against the fire. The accident didn't left heavy casualty except five firefighters suffering slight injury.
