A senior officer of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) met with a logistical delegation from the Korean People's Army (KPA) of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Thursday.

The delegation was led by Jon Chang Bok, chief of the General Logistics Bureau of the DPRK's Armed Forces Department.

Liao Xilong, chief of the PLA General Logistics Department, hailed the traditional relationship between the two countries, saying that military ties have played an important role in the development of bilateral relations.

The PLA and the KPA, both under the leadership of their respective ruling parties, share similarities in their mission to defend their respective countries, said Liao, adding that the PLA attaches high importance to its relations with the KPA and will continue to enhance exchanges and cooperation with the KPA.

He also briefed the delegation on China's social and economic development.

China has witnessed rapid economic growth and made remarkable achievements in poverty elimination and the improvement of people's livelihoods, but still faces many challenges on the path to development, Liao said.

Jon said the DPRK's citizens and armed forces can learn from China's rapid growth and achievements.
