A series of Chinese art shows opened Sunday evening, starting with a concert given by the China National Music Orchestra at the Belarusian State Philharmonic Hall.

Lu Guicheng, Chinese ambassador to Belarus, said in his opening remarks that the "Days of Chinese Culture" and other events alike would help the two nations to better understand each other.

Speaking to the audience who are eager to watch the performance of the internationally-acclaimed Chinese artists, Lu said the geographic distance between China and Belarus, though faraway from each other, has never been an obstacle to their mutually beneficial ties and the desire of the two peoples to befriend and learn more about each other.

Vladimir Karachevsky, Belarus' first deputy culture minister, said the culture show would be an outstanding event for Belarusian-Chinese cooperation. He also said the creative performances of the visting Chinese artists demonstrated the splendor of the amazing Chinese culture.

The event, which runs through Oct. 2, offers Belarusians an opportunity to enjoy China's music, dance and and other forms of arts.
