Premier of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Choe Yong Rim visited east China's Jiangsu Province on Thursday and Friday.

Choe, also a member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), visited Yurun Group, China Electronics Panda Crystal Technology Corporation, and Yangzhou Smart Valley during his visit to Jiangsu.

Jiangsu is known as "a fertile land of fish and rice," and Jiangsu has a long history of industrial development, with heavy and light industries coordinating well, Choe said when he met with Li Xueyong, governor of Jiangsu Province.

Noting that DPRK leaders Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il had both visited the province, Choe expressed his hope that Jiangsu and the DPRK's Kangwon-do Province would enhance cooperation and make new contributions to the development of the China-DPRK relationship.

Li said the cooperation between Jiangsu and the DPRK has developed well, as illustrated by statistics showing the total value of trade between Jiangsu and the DPRK totalled 55 million U.S. dollars in 2010 and 60 million U.S. dollars in the first half of this year.

Li said both the General Secretary of the WPK Kim Jong Il and the Premier of the DPRK Choe Yong Rim had visited Jiangsu this year, showing that the DPRK has attached great importance to Jiangsu in the development of the relationship between China and the DPRK.

Choe returned to the DPRK on Friday afternoon following his five-day visit to Beijing, Shanghai and Jiangsu Province.
