China attaches importance to Peru's significant role in Latin America and the Caribbean region, and hopes that the country would make more positive contribution to promoting China-Latin America economic and trade cooperation, a visiting Chinese official said in Lima Monday.

In a complex world economic and financial situation, China is willing to take joint measures with Latin American countries to ensure stable development of bilateral trade and push forward reciprocal cooperation in such fields as energy, mining, infrastructure, hi-tech, finance, agriculture and environment protection, said Hua Jianmin, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress.

The successful implementation of the China-Peru free trade agreement had vigorously boosted bilateral cooperation on trade and investment, Hua said during a meeting with Peruvian President Ollanta Humala, adding that China would like to take this opportunity to further facilitate China-Latin America trade and investment.

Humala said China is Peru's reliable strategic partner and important trade partner. He said Peru is willing to pragmatically push forward the bilateral economic and trade cooperation to achieve win-win results.

Peru would like to contribute to boosting China-Latin America economic and trade cooperation, the president said.

Hua and Humala attended the opening ceremony of the 5th China-Latin America Business Summit shortly after their meeting.
