Srinakarinwirot University's Deep South Watch Center on Wednesday released a report on unrest situation in the southernmost provinces of Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat provinces, saying 41 were killed while 47 wounded in November.
The report said, of all 67 violent incidents taking place last month, 30 cases were related to shooting or drive-by-shooting and 25 were bomb attacks.
In total, 27 innocent residents, 2 military officers, 2 village defence officers and 8 state officials were killed.
From January 2004 to August 2011, there have been over 11,000 violent incidents in the southernmost provinces of Yala, Pattani, and Narathiwat. Altogether over 4,800 people, mostly villagers, have been killed in violent incidents instigated by suspected secessionists in these Muslim-dominant provinces which were once independent sultanate of Pattani before being annexed by predominantly Buddhist state in 1909.
