Publicity chief of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Liu Yunshan on Wednesday met with Pierre Laurent, national secretary of the French Communist Party (PCF).

Liu praised the great progress of bilateral relations and cooperation in recent years, noting that it has brought tangible benefits to people in both countries.

He said the CPC is committed to developing friendly cooperative relations with the PCF on the basis of the four principles guiding inter-party relations: independence; complete equality; mutual respect; and non-interference in each other's internal affairs.

China is willing to work with France to advance bilateral relations from a strategic and long-term perspective and enhance party-to-party exchanges and cooperation, in order to make joint efforts to promote the long-term, stable and healthy development of bilateral relations, he said.

Liu also briefed Laurent on the theory of scientific development as well as China's policies on improving people's livelihood, deepening reform and opening up, and enhancing CPC Party-building.

Laurent spoke highly of China's achievements in socialist construction under the guidance of the CPC, and expressed willingness to further promote dialogues and communication between the PCF and the CPC, so as to advance the comprehensive development of Sino-French ties and Sino-European relations.
