China.org.cn joins US-China Internet Forum

Huang Youyi, president of China.org.cn, took part in the 2011 U.S.-China Internet Industry Forum (CIIF) in Washington D.C. on Wednesday.

More than 180 delegates from the Internet industry, government and academia participated in the two-day event at which attendees exchanged views on a range of pressing Internet-related topics, including social network development, Internet governance, online security, and the social responsibility of Internet service providers.

Keynote speeches were delivered by the Vice-Minister of China's State Internet Information Office Qian Xiaoqian, U.S. Under Secretary of State Robert Hermes and China's ambassador to the U.S. Zhang Yesui.

The forum was also attended by vice-chairman of the Internet Society of China Wu Jianping, Microsoft Chief Research and Strategy Officer Craig Mundie, Baidu CEO Robin Li, Renmin Search President Deng Yaping, Sohu CEO Charles Zhang, Sina Vice-President Chen Tong and Vice-President of People.com.cn Guan Jianwen.

CIIF is co-hosted by the Internet Society of China (ISC) and Microsoft. China and the U.S have now hosted five editions of the forum between them since 2007, with previous forums being held in Seattle, Shanghai ,San Francisco and Beijing.
