Myanmar is drafting the amendment of print media and television laws which will give more relaxation for motion picture and video censorship in conformity with the new era and system, official media quoted Minister of Information and Culture U Kyaw Hsan as reporting Sunday.

"After granting relaxation, it is inappropriate for restriction of censorship for movie and video, Kyaw Hsan told a meeting with the film and video censor board officials and film and video circle in Yangon Saturday, adding that the relaxation of related rules and laws will be made step by step.

However, it will have take time to create what some people said there should be no censor board regarding the film and video censorship and the artistic work, produced freely and openly, will be assessed and supervised by those from the film world, artistes and the people, Kyaw Hsan insisted.

He sticked to that the film and video censor board will remain, while the censor rules will be relaxed.

He asked Myanmar Motion Picture Association and men of film industry to cooperate in democratization process of the new administration in national outlook and spirit.

Amendment of print media and TV laws, which remain to be done, are among the government's reform measures introduced since it took office in March this year.
