China pays condolences to Guinea-Bissau's president

China paid condolences Friday to Guinea-Bissau over the death of President Malam Bacai Sanha.

Chinese President Hu Jintao on Thursday sent a telegram expressing his condolences to Acting President Raimundo Pereira of Guinea-Bissau.

Chen Changzhi, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, China's top legislature, has visited the Guinea-Bissau embassy in Beijing to express deep condolences and lay a wreath.

Sanha, who had been hospitalized in Paris since Aug. 31, 2011, passed away from complications of diabetes on Monday morning at the age of 64.
