5.4-magnitude earthquake hits NW Pakistan

An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale hit northwest Pakistan on Saturday morning, according to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

The earthquake took place at 09:16:55 a.m. local time. The epicenter is in the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region with a focal depth of 212 kilometers.

Tremors were felt in Pakistan's northwest Chitral, Malakand and other adjoining areas, said PMD.

No reports about the loss of lives or damages to properties have been received yet.
