Premier Wen's six visits to Germany

Premier Wen Jiabao has visited Germany six times since 2004.

· May 3-5, 2004

Germany was the first leg of Wen's five-nation European tour. He met with then German chancellor Gerhard Schroder. Wen proposed establishing an annual meeting mechanism between the two heads of government.

· Sept 13-14, 2006

Wen and German Chancellor Angela Merkel witnessed the signing of eight documents covering cooperation in the economy, science, technology and culture.

· Jan 28-29, 2009

Germany was the second leg of Premier Wen's "Trip of Confidence to Europe". He met with Merkel and attended a forum on Sino-German economic and Technical cooperation.

· Oct 5, 2010

Wen and Merkel issued a statement, which said both sides advocate "strengthening European-Chinese economic relations and want to encourage them through consultation and building up cooperation."

· June 27-30, 2011

During Wen's last stop on a three-nation Europe tour, after visiting Hungary and Britain, he and Merkel co-chaired the first round of China-Germany inter-governmental consultations. It was the first such mechanism between China's government and a foreign one.

· April 22-23, 2012

Wen attends the Hannover Messe and a China-Germany business summit and visits the headquarters of carmaker Volkswagen AG.
