Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday that the next general elections would be held in four months, instead of the original schedule of October 2013.
Netanyahu announced his decision at a Likud party convention in Tel Aviv.
The announcement comes as the 18th Knesset (parliament) is set to dissolve in weeks. Likud and the opposition Labor and Meretz parties on Wednesday submitted bills to dissolve the legislature and bring forward early elections.
