China opposes Japan's issuance of visa for WUC head

China firmly opposes Japan's support of the World Uygur Congress (WUC), Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said Friday.
Hong made the remark at a regular press briefing in response to a reporter's question regarding Japan's recent issuance of a visa for the head of the WUC.
Hong said the WUC is inextricably linked to terrorist organizations and is an anti-China separatist group.
"China urges Japan to respect China's concerns, take measures to remedy any ill effects and safeguard China-Japan relations through concrete efforts," he said.
