Wang Zhizhen, Chinese President Hu Jintao's special representative, embarked on a visit to East Timor on Wednesday.
Wang is expected to attend a celebration for the 10th anniversary of the founding of East Timor and the establishment of China-East Timor diplomatic ties from May 17 to 20.
Leading a delegation of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Wang will also visit the Republic of Korea (ROK) and Japan at the invitation of the ROK Foreign Affairs and Trade Ministry and the Association of Dietmen League for Japan-China Friendship, respectively.
Wang is vice chairwoman of the CPPCC National Committee, China's top political advisory body, and deputy head of the Chinese Association for International Understanding.
