China's Ministry of Commerce on Wednesday reminded Chinese nationals and companies in Djibouti to take precautions against an outbreak of dengue fever in the country.

A dengue outbreak hit Djibouti recently, and several Chinese citizens in the country were hospitalized after contracting the disease, the ministry said in a statement on its website.

The ministry suggested that Chinese enterprises and personnel in the African nation closely monitor the situation and take measures to prevent infection.

The statement also said those planning to travel to the country on business should take necessary precautions and consult the Chinese Embassy in Djibouti for details about the outbreak.

Dengue fever is an acute viral disease contracted through the bite of certain species of mosquitoes.
