IRGC "successfully" test-fired a diversity of missiles on the second day of its three-day drill, the official IRNA news agency reported.

The short-range, medium-range and long-range missiles of the IRGC "successfully" targeted the hypothesized sites of a imaginary enemy in the central desert area of Iran, said the report.

The IRGC's aerospace division commander, Amir Ali Hajizadeh, told reporters that in the drill dubbed "Great Prophet 7" more than 100 hypothesized spots in the central desert would be targeted by various kinds of missiles.

Some of the IRGC's missiles can even reach 2000 km, but in the ongoing maneuver, only the ones with ranges of 300, 500, 800 and 1300 km are tested, the semi-official Mehr news agency quoted Hajizadeh as saying on Tuesday.

The domestically-produced missiles that are tested include Shahab1, 2, 3 (Meteor), Khalij Fars (Persian Gulf), Tondar ( Lightning), Fateh (Victor) and Zelzal (Quake) as well as Qiam ( Uprising), according to Press TV.

Meanwhile, Hajizadeh told Fars news agency that in the ongoing drill, the IRGC will also test its super-modern ballistic missile capable of targeting radar facilities, adding that it "has a range of 300 km" and "will be improved soon."

"These advanced missiles can be used to target different types of missile shields, including the Zionist regime's Iron Dome," he was quoted as saying on Monday, in reference to Israel.

Also, unmanned aerial vehicles of the IRGC "successfully" bombarded the bases of an imaginary enemy during a drill in the southern part of Lut Desert on Tuesday, Press TV reported.

On the second day of the military drill, the IRGC bomber drones hit their designated targets in Lut Desert of central Iran, said the report.

A senior Iranian commander said Tuesday that the IRGC ongoing missile drill serves as a "firm response" to the military threats against the Islamic republic, Press TV said.

"The main aim of this drill is to demonstrate the Iranian nation's political resolution to defend (its) vital values and national interests," Deputy Commander of the IRGC Brigadier General Hossein Salami was quoted as saying.

Salami added that so far the drill has been "completely successful" as all the missiles have hit their targets accurately.

Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said Tuesday that the ongoing IRGC's missile drill is aimed at providing security in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.

Mehmanparast made the remarks in his weekly press briefing. Asked about Iranian lawmakers' bill on closing the Strait of Hormuz, he said that the Iranian government will implement the bill if it is turned into an law.

Iranian lawmaker Ebrahim Agha-Mohammadi said Monday that the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Iran's Majlis ( parliament) had prepared a bill which called for the closure of Hormuz Strait in the Persian Gulf in response to the recent EU oil embargo on Iran.

The security of the Persian Gulf is significant for the Islamic republic and Iran possesses the power to provide the safety of energy supplies through the water way, Mehmanparast said.
