Nine Afghan soldiers were killed and 20 others injured as their bus overturned in northern Afghan province of Samangan on Monday, police said.

"In the tragic incident which took place at around 8 a.m. local time today in Hazrat Sultan district, nine personnel of the national army were martyred and 20 others injured," police spokesman in the northern region Lal Mohammad Ahmadzai told Xinhua.

The ill-fated soldiers were bound for the eastern Paktia province on duty when they met the accident, he added.
