Two people were slightly burned in a blast of steam that occurred Wednesday afternoon at the Fessenheim nuclear reactor, local television France24 reported.
The incident happened at 15:50 (14:30 GMT) at the nuclear power plant in the northeastern region of France. The local prefecture said it was not a fire but the release of oxygenated steam produced after injecting hydrogen peroxide which reacted with water in the reservoir.
French Power supplier EDF confirmed two people were slightly burned by the steam, local media said.
The Fessenheim is the oldest French nuclear power plants and is scheduled to be shut down by 2017.
