Chinese State Councilor Meng Jianzhu pledged Friday to boost cooperation with Armenia on law enforcement.

He made the pledge during his meeting with Artur Baghdasaryan, secretary of the Armenian National Security Council.

Meng said it is of great significance for China and Armenia to cooperate on security and law enforcement as the current international situation is undergoing complicated and profound changes.

"(We) hope that the two sides will increase dialogue and information exchanges, and deepen cooperation on security and law enforcement, and disaster rescue and relief, so as to maintain and promote peace, tranquility and stability in the region and the world at large," Meng said.

Baghdasaryan said the Armenian government attaches great importance to the ties with China and is willing to cooperate with China in various fields, including law enforcement.

Hailing bilateral ties over the past 20 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, Meng said China and Armenia have become good friends and partners that treat each other with respect and sincerity and cooperate closely.

China appreciates Armenia's adherence to the one-China policy and firm support for China on major issues, he said.
