A squadron of three ships of the Russian Northern Fleet have called in the Northern Sea on their way to the Gulf of Aden for anti-piracy tasks, navy spokesman Vadim Serga said Tuesday.

The ships -- anti-submarine ship Severomorsk, rescue vessel Altai and tanker Dubna -- will pass the English Channel and the Bay of Biscay and enter the Mediterranean Sea before they arrive at the Gulf of Aden, said Serga.

The ship crew members will conduct various exercises during their trip, according to the spokesman.
