French and Chadian troops on Thursday night entered Aguel' Hoc, a locality situated about 100 km from Kidal town in the North-Eastern region of Mali, near the Algerian border, a Malian security source told Xinhua early on Friday morning. On Thursday afternoon, Mali's chief of general staff announced that the Malian soldiers were heading to Kidal.

It will be recalled that on Jan. 17, 2012, over 90 Malian soldiers were summarily executed at Aguel' Hoc.

Last week, the chairman of the Inter-African Human Rights Union, Brahima Kone who is a Malian lawyer, deplored the silence of international human rights organizations on the summary executions that were committed on the Malian soldiers at Aguel' Hoc.

Kone reacted following the complaints by human rights organizations which denounced the "abuses that were being committed by the Malian army on the Touaregs and Arabs."
