Venezuela's acting President Nicolas Maduro is more likely to win the April 14 presidential elections, a Cuban analyst said.

That is because the reforms initiated by late President Hugo Chavez, the political mentor of Maduro, would continue to influence the nation's political future despite his death, Cuban political scientist Juan Cordero told Xinhua recently.

"There isn't the slightest doubt about the continuity of Bolivarian revolution," he said.

Maduro, 50, who became acting president Friday after Chavez died after a two-year battle with cancer, would be challenged by opposition candidate Henrique Capriles in the upcoming April 14 presidential polls.

But Cordero believed that the opposition had little chance of winning after its consecutive losses in last year's presidential and regional elections.

"It was clear that the (opposition' s) agenda has lost popular support," he said. "I don't have the slightest doubt that the April 14 elections will also reflect that reality."
