China's top political advisor Yu Zhengsheng met with Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn on Sunday.

Yu, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), spoke highly of Sirindhorn's important role in enhancing cooperation in the fields of culture and education as well as science and technology between the two countries and friendship between the two peoples over the past more than 30 years.

China's newly-elected leadership will, as always, value the country's ties with Thailand and is willing to work with Thailand to maintain high-level exchanges and expand substantial cooperation, Yu noted.

Sirindhorn pledged to continue to make efforts to promote China-Thailand relations.
