G8 foreign ministers urged the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to "refrain from further provocative acts," on Thursday.

The foreign ministers issued a joint statement following their meetings in London, expressing commitments on preventing and ending global and regional conflicts.

On the Korean Peninsula situation, the foreign ministers "condemned in the strongest possible terms" the continued development of its nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs by the DPRK, the statement said.

The foreign ministers supported the commitment to strengthen the current sanctions regime and take further significant measures in the event of a further launch or nuclear test by the DPRK.

They condemned DPRK's current aggressive rhetoric, and urged the country to engage in credible and authentic multilateral talks on denuclearization and refrain from further provocative acts.
