Iran's Foreign Ministry strongly condemned on Friday earlier twin deadly bombings in Lebanon's northern port city of Tripoli.

"With no doubt the extremists and irresponsible Takfiri groups are perpetrators of the Zionists' plots to sow discord among the Lebanese people and to strike a blow to the national unity," Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Araqchi was quoted as saying by semi-official Fars news agency.

For sure, the Lebanese people and the country's leaders will thwart the plots through prudence and wisdom, he was quoted as saying.

On Friday, Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said the perpetrators of the terrorist attacks in Lebanon are in cahoots with Israel.

"The terrorist explosions in Lebanon's Tripoli, which coincide with the strikes by the Zionist regime on this country, indicate coordination between Takfiri militants and the Zionists," Amir- Abdollahian was quoted as saying by Press TV,

The Iranian Foreign Ministry officials expressed sympathy with the families of the blast victims and stressed Iran's sustained support for the Lebanese resistance.

At least 29 people were killed and more than 500 others injured on Friday when two powerful explosions rocked Lebanon's northern port city of Tripoli, according to Lebanese Red Cross and security sources.
