During the visit, Ji met with speaker of the house of representatives Andre Flahaut, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Johan Vande Lanotte, and Minister of Agriculture Sabine Laruelle.

Ji thanked Belgium for having been one of the first Western countries to provide China with capital, technology and other support.

With the European Union (EU) headquarters in Brussels, Belgium has a special status and influence, said Ji.

China is ready to maintain high-level exchanges with Belgium, close exchanges between legislative bodies, deepen political trust and promote pragmatic cooperation in various fields, to work together to promote further development of China-EU relations, said Ji.

The Belgian hosts noted that Belgium attaches great importance to relations with China, hopes to expand cooperation with China on trade, SMEs, agriculture, culture and other areas, and is ready to contribute to the development of EU-China relations.
