Even though Malaysia was involved in disputes in the South China Sea with China, the Malaysia-China ties would not be jeopardized and was always at its best, Malaysian Ambassador to China Iskandar Sarudin said on Thursday.

Iskandar made the remarks during a speech titled "Various Angles on Views of Malaysia's Diplomatic Relationship with Foreign Countries" at the Institute of Language and Literature Thursday.

He said the disputes could be solved through peaceful means by the existing instruments, including international laws like the ' United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.'

Iskandar also said bilateral ties between Malaysia and China would enter a new dimension with the forthcoming 40th anniversary of formal ties. Various forms of cooperation expected to be held to strengthen the existing relationship, he added.

He said Malaysia targeted to increase its trade with China on the basis of the agreement signed with East Asian country last year.
