The Chinese Embassy to Vietnam has helped evacuate more than 3,000 Chinese nationals from Vietnam as of Saturday afternoon after the recent deadly violence against foreign businesses and citizens, China's Foreign Ministry said early Sunday morning.

Two Chinese nationals were killed in the violence and more than 100 others injured.

An iron and steel complex in Ha Tinh Province of Vietnam, invested by Taipei-based Formosa Plastics Group, was badly hit in the violent attacks triggered by disputes in the South China Sea.

The China 19th Metallurgical Corporation (MCC19) is a contractor for construction of the plant.

The staff members of MCC19 arrived at Chengdu in southwest China's Sichuan Province by a chartered plane at about 5 a.m. on Sunday.

Sixteen critically injured also aboard a chartered medical flight arranged by Chinese government early Sunday morning.

Chinese government has earlier sent a working group to central Vietnam's Ha Tinh Province to work with Vietnamese authorities to discuss an escort plan for wounded nationals.

The working group, led by Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Jianchao, also went to hospital in Ha Tinh to visit the injured Chinese citizens.
