Five children lost their lives and six others including men and women of same family sustained injuries as a rocket fired by militants hit a house in northern Kunduz province with Kunduz city as its capital 250 km north of Kabul on Monday, police said.

"Taliban militants fired rocket propelled grenade in Ali Abad district early Monday morning but the device struck a house killing five innocent children on the spot and injuring six others including their parents," police spokesman in the province Sayed Sarwar Hussaini told Xinhua.

Taliban militants have speed up activities since they launched their so-called spring offensive in May in Afghanistan.
